Fact: Rawan is one of my favorite people on the planet. To know her is to love her. Being amongst her awakens your dormant inner artist. She finds beauty in everything which makes sense that her favored medium is flowers. There is an inner grace and an inner light and softness that radiates from Rawan and an acceptance that is a rarity in most folks. Beyond all these lovely things, for which I could go on for hours, one of the most astounding things about Rawan is her acceptance of vulnerability and her fearlessness for handling this. When I feel a velvety wave of darkness, Rawan can empathize and offer sweet and patient guidance. Her balance of dark and light has guided her to the most blossoming and blooming career ( she just made Marnie's wedding crown on "Girls"!) and (if you couldn't already tell), it's an honor to call this staunch goddess my dear friend.

How has this affected your aesthetic? And you as a person: I grew up going to the beach every day in the summer and used to collect shells and make friendship bracelets with my cousin Sabrina. Growing up with the sounds of the ocean waves and the feeling of the sun on your skin, and the beauty of the ocean has always turned my focus towards nature. We were always collecting shells, making friendship bracelets, painting our faces with Zinc flourescent sunscreen and paint our nails fun colors, and so color was always something we always played with too.
In the winter, we both went to dance classes almost everyday, and would take trips to the mountains to go skiing. The fluidity and movement of dance, has also influenced my aesthetic a lot. Sabrina and I also learned how to snowboard in 6th grade, and both LOVE it. Riding the snow-covered mountains is such a meditation and union with your body, mind and nature, and when I work with flowers, a similar connection happens.
Favorite things you own: My cats, Lulu and Lali :) Also my custom engagement ring my bestie Erica made and my fiance and she designed it together for me :)
Favorite thing about yourself: My endurance and passion for creating and my intuition. Its that endurance and passion and that intuition that has stuck with me and allowed me to get through it all and create my work into a business and find myself. I always try to stay open and listen to my intuition as it guides me. Its funny how business is actually a very intuitive thing, people dont talk about that very much.
What was the last picture you took?: it was of my cats, they are the best!
How do you deal with the blues?: I try to go to yoga and change the chemistry/thoughts/ in my body a bit. Change it up. Go to bikram and sweat it out, paint and create things for the purpose of creating.
What did you eat for lunch today? Caprese GF sandwich with chips and chickpea salad.
What is joy for you?: Joy is Love, loving and allowing yourself to be loved.
Advice for artists who are just beginning?: Believe in yourself, and always be creating and experimenting, always and always do that. Eventually it evolves and will guide you. Stay open and experiment with different mediums (that's how I found flowers! )
